Looking for things to do in New Orleans? Visit Jackson Square, one of the French Quarter's most famous destinations. In 1960, Jackson Square was made a National Historic Landmark.
Another name for this historic park is Place d' Armes, because of its early history. After the Battle of New Orleans, the Place d' Armes was renamed Jackson Square after Andrew Jackson. It is here you can find one of the four identical equestrian statues of Andrew Jackson in the United States.
Our Jackson Square hotel is located just minutes away from all the attractions and sightseeing Jackson Square has to offer. Be sure to visit:
- St. Louis Cathedral - the cathedral is the center of the square's 3 historic buildings. Pope Paul VI designated St. Paul's as a minor Basilica
- The Cabildo - this building is on the left of the cathedral. The final version of the Louisiana Purchase was signed here. This old city hall is now a museum
- The Presbytére - on the cathedral's right, the Presbytére was built to match the Cabildo. An old building once used to house the city's Roman Catholic priests, it is now a museum
